Maintaining your skin is a lifetime commitment. It's important that you customize a daily regimine to achieve and keep your skin healthy.
It's a fairly easy task. First, you should identify your skin type. There are three main types: Normal, Oily, and Combination skin. Normal skin rarely has acne breakouts and can use gentle facial cleansers. Oily skin is prone to breackouts. You should not use oil based products or over wash the face beacause it will cause the skin to produce more oil. Combination skin is typically normal to dry or oily to dry. Depending on your combination skin type you should find products that are specifically made to treat all the issues you face.
After you have identified your skin type, now it's time to pick your products. Regardless the skin type, it is recommended that everyone cleanse, tone, and moisturize the skin twice daily.
Normal skin types should use gentle cleansers that dissolve dirt without stripping away vital moisture. Follow up with a toner (witch-hazel) and a non-greasy moisturizer that absorbs quickly with a SPF 15. Oily and Combination skin types should use oil-free cleansers that are non-comedogenic. Follow up with a toner and a oil-free light weight moisturizer with a SPF 30.
Invest in products that are lightweight and natural like Jason's Natural Remedies, Burt Bees products, Oil of Olay, Nu
Remember, what we eat also affects the skin. So watch your diet. Stay away from greasy fatty foods. Eat a well balanced diet and take in the recommended 8 glasses of water a day.
