Steps to the perfect brow
No one person is the same and so no one brow should be either. The best way to achieve your perfect brow is to first know yourself. What do you want to see and more importantly, what do you want others to see when they see you?
To get started choose a face shape that you identify with. Each face shape has very unique characteristics that you either want to hide or illuminate. Knowing what shape you are helps you find a brow shape that will enhance your overall appearance. The oval face is slightly narrow and needs a soft angled brow with a little curve to help maintain the natural appearance of the face. The round face is slightly wide and needs a steep arch to make the face appear longer and more narrow. The long face is slender but has a dominant chin. Using a straight brow will shorten the overall appearance of the face. The square face has a heavy jawline and appears wider. Use a s-shaped arch to soften that jawline. The diamond face is a combination of the oval and the heart shape. The rounded or the s- shaped arch is ideal for this face shape because it slightly softens the face without taking away the uniqueness of it. Stay away from pointed arches they will harden your overall appearance. Lastly, the arch or the steep arch works great on heart shaped faces since it helps to balance the wide appearance at the forehead.
Once you have chosen which shape works best for you pick which hair removal method you are going to use to achieve this new shape. Waxing with slight tweezing is my favorite because it last me 4-5 weeks before I have to maintenance my brows again. However, you may also choose from threading, laser, or cream removers like Nair; which is my least favorite because it smells awful. I would like to recommend that you see a professional for all the major stuff and only do upkeep at home with the use of good sturdy pair of tweezers. Your chosen professional should be able to give you more information about your removal method and the maintenance required to keep them up.
You have identified your face shape and defined your brow shape with your chosen hair removal method. Now you need to arm yourself with a few key make-up tools that ensure that you will be able to perfect your brows to suit your unique style. I always keep my tweezers, a brow pencil ( I like the ones that come with brushes to help groom my brows daily), brow powder ( great for filling in thin brows or changing the color), and lastly a clear mascara (seals and sets the brow for longer wear). These tools are both inexpensive and carry a decent shelf life.
I use my perfect brows as my only makeup throughout my work week. It takes no time and they make you look more alert and refreshed. If you are a true make-up wearer use your brows as an addition to your eye make-up routine. Highlight your brows or add beautiful eye make-up for night makeup. See the charts that follow.
Great brows are easy to do and if you don't trust yourself seek a professional. Whatever you do, don't have bad brows. They Kill!
